Modern Christmas Music | Pop and Punk

Hey lovelies!

So I know that so many people in the Winter season listen to all the classic Christmas music. The classics are great, everyone knows them and well they're classics aren't they?!

But I thought I'd show you some of the current and a lot more modern Christmas tunes that have been on repeat since the decorations went up. Whatever your taste in music, I have a girly/pop option and a punky option.

Have a little bit of a change up with your Christmas music this year!

The girly/pop option.

Ariana Grande! Need I even explain who she is? Everyone has heard of Ariana, put not many people are aware of her flipping amazing Christmas album! Its my favourite playlist of Christmas songs and I just love each track.

In 2013, Ariana released a 4 track Christmas single called 'Christmas Kisses'. The single includes the songs -
Love Is Everything (If you liked 'Put Your Hearts Up' You'll love this song)
Snow In California
Santa Baby featuring Liz Gillies (Remember when Liz and Ariana where on Victorious together?!)
And my personal favourite...Last Christmas (Ariana's more modernized version)

Each song is amazing! 'Santa Baby' and 'Last Christmas' are obviously remakes of the originals and the original of 'Last Christmas' by Wham! has been my favourite Christmas song since as long as I can remember, so discovering that Ariana had remade the song, I just can't physically bring myself to stop playing it, like seriously!

'Love Is Everything' and 'Snow In California' are two of Ariana's originals and the latter is so cute lyrically, it's the slowest song out of the four and the message and meaning behind the song is really adorable!

Then in 2014, another Ariana Christmas song was added to the list of amazingness and this song is defiantly my favourite of all of her Christmas songs. It's called 'Santa Tell Me'. You've probably heard this one as she also released a music video alongside it but the song is so lovely and is full of Christmassy fun to dance around and sing along to!

This year (2015) Ariana released Yet another Christmas album called 'Christmas And Chill' with 6 new original Christmas songs. You defiantly need to give these a listen!

'Christmas And Chill' tracks -
Intro
Wit It This Christmas
December
Not Just On Christmas
True Love
Winter Things

Moving onto the Punky option.

There's Punk goes Pop, Punk goes 90's...well now there's Punk goes Christmas.

Those of us who listen to darker and heavier music, we need something to listen to at Christmas and this is the perfect option!

In 2013, Fearless Records released the first Punk goes Christmas, a whole album full of some of the best punk bands with a few original Christmas songs and a couple classics. Ever wondered what a classic Christmas song would sound like if it was being screamed? Now there's no need to wonder!

The bands and songs include -

Nothing For Christmas - New found Glory
Fool's Holiday - All Time Low
I Had A Heart - Real Friends
Father Christmas - Man Overboard
This Christmas - The Summer Set
There Will Be No Christmas - Crown The Empire
Christmas Lights - Yellowcard
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays - Issues
All I Can Give You - Jason Lancaster
I Don't Wanna Spend Another Christmas Without You - The Ready Set
This Christmas (I'll Burn It To The Ground) - Set It Off
Do You Hear What I Hear? - William Beckett

Punk Goes Pop Christmas (Deluxe Edition) -

All of the above plus
12 Days Of A Pop-Punk Christmas - Jarrod Alonge
Home Alone Theme - August Burns Red
Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas - Being As An Ocean
Sleigh Ride - This Wild Life

I listen to a lot of these bands on a regular basis, so hearing them sing Christmas songs is just amazing! I'm not to sure whether listening to this album will make you festive though, being a punk album they don't seem to like Christmas to much, but consider the album the only Christmas songs you'll hear about the negative side of Christmas!

Whats your favourite Christmas Song, or even better your favourite Christmas song genre?
